The Cultural Department is also in charge of teaching traditional harvesting practices for sugar bush (maple syrup), cranberries, medicines, and other items.
Embodying the Seven Grandfather Teachings: Gwayakwaadiziwin (Honesty), Debwewin (Truth), Inendizowin (Humility), Zaagi’idiwin (Love), Nibwaakaawin (Wisdom), Manaaji’idiwin (Respect), Aakdewin (Bravery), the Cultural Department acts to ensure culture can be passed on to future generations.
